WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Hello hello 

Happy Halloween! First highlight of the week and halloween related is (DRUM ROLL PLEASE) Hermana Teodório and I won the costume contest that we did for Pday today! Whoop whoop! We dressed up as boxers (see photo below).

In other news, this week we found an awesome guy named Roberto and his wife Rosa! Roberto lost his son 2 years ago to cancer, and is recently retired so he found himself falling into depression. His wife told him to look for a church or religion or something so he prayed to God to help him find something, and met us a week later. We were able to teach him yesterday and it was super awesome! The Lord really does prepare people. I will keep you updated with the progress he makes :)

In other news, Everth is also doing great! Everything is still a little different and new to him, but he is trying to be more active with the activities in the church! He is going to come to English class tomorrow and to church on Sunday! 

In other news, we still didn´t have gas in the house this week so finding ways to make food was interesting. I ran out of literally everything but found that i had flour and sugar and my comp chocolate so we decided to make brownies.. well my comp gave me the responsability to make browines (bad idea) haha SO to justify my failure, 1. the recipe she gave me was in freaking Portugues and 2. we could only use a toaster oven because we didnt have gas for the real one. Even though you probably couldn´t call these half burnt, half uncooked, double smounts of sugar, brownies, brownies... we ate them.

Hola hola hola

This week was kinda crazy.. Full of lots of embarassing moments! Well I don´t know if they are embarassing moments, or bad luck, or what but this week I blew up 2 eggs in the microwave, found out we ran out of gas (which means no hot water) while I was in the shower, clogged the toilet in a member´s house, and got my SD card jammed in the chapel computer... BUT even with these little bumps in the road, we had a great week!

We have been working with Tonia who is the mom of a recent convert, helping her to quit smoking. So this week when we taught her, it was super awesome! She has her goal in mind, and we are doing everything we can to help her progress. While we were there, her sister came in and wanted to do a psycological test on us.. So she asked us a few questions and then told us stuff about ourselves based on our answers... Every single thing she said wasn´t true. but we didn´t have the heart to tell her that, so if you ever meet a lady named Leonor who says she knows Hermana Bever, don´t believe her!

Other than Tonia and a few others, we are doing lots and lots of contacts and meeting lots of new people! Whether it is the drunk men in the street that need a shoulder to cry on or the old ladies who water their sidewalk to see if it will grow, we are all God´s children, and we all need some love!

We are working away here in La Blanca and Hermana Teodório says hello to everyone :)

BIENVENIDO HERMANA TEODÓRIO - 10/10/18

Hello!!

Sorry it has been a little while since my last email... but at least this email is full of new things! SURPRISE! I got changes! I am now in the sector La Blanca with my new companion Hermana Teodório from Brazil! She will be my ninth companion in the field and this will be my fifth sector all within 11 months... It sucks that i only had one change with Hermana Meza, but I am super excited to be here in La Blanca with my Hermana Teo :) 

Hermana Meza and I didn´t think we would be getting changed much less the two of us leaving the sector at the same time! So after we got the call on Saturday things have been a little crazy.. 

1. General Conference was soooooo awesome! 

2. We had to say goodbye to Miriam and her grandkids :( But they are so awesome, and I know I will be coming back in a short time for their baptism.

3. Hermana Teodório just finished her training so this will be my fourth time "greenie breaking". I only have one day in the sector, but I love it already. It´s actually right next to my old sector Brisas, in fact we live in Brisas and walk to our sector every day, so it is fun to be a part of Brisas again.

4. We met a recent convert here in my new sector yesterday named Eduardo who only has one leg, and he is very depressed that Hermana Knight who I am replacing left... So we will see how is goes with my efforts to win the ward over...

You know with all the changes I have had, I have learned that there is always something to learn from my companion at the time, or the ward, or the people we are teaching. Even though I have no idea why I was put here in this sector, I know that through hard work I will find my answer. 

I loved Elder Rasband´s talk fromt this weekend where he talked about how our fear limits are perspective ( i testify to that ). But he encouraged us by saying that If we love what the Lord loves, we will not be troubled; there is no room for fear when there is love. Love should be the source for all that we do, and I know that if our faith in bigger than our fear we can accomplish more than we ever imagined we could.

For Bever and Ever - 10/17/18

Hola Familia!!!

This week was good! Update on the sector! When i got here there was about 2 people that the missionaries were teaching so this week we working hard all day every day to find new people! We have a few more people now including Ever! Ever is from Columbia and has frosted tips hair hahah (He´s like columbian NSYNC). He was a contact that the hermanas had found before so we passed by on Saturday and we able to talk with him, and we invited him to church the next day, and he came!! He said it was different, but he liked it. He was participating a ton too! We are super excited for Ever (plus besides one letter, we have the same name).

We are helping the mom (Tonia) of a recent convert (Francisco) right now with the 12 step program to help her give up her smoking habit, and she is doing so good! ALSO fun fact, this sector has a lot of old men in it... We had one full day where almost all of our contacts and lessons were with old men... We would start talking to one and then another would come up and join in on the conversation sending away the other, and then one across the street would be staring at us talking to old man number 2 so we would go and talk to him afterwards and oh my gosh ya lots of abuelitos haha It was fun..

Last event this week was the Noche de Hogar that we do every week for the ward (the same 10 people always come, but it is fun). Hermana Teodório and I were in charge of it this week so we played Jeopardy! Turns out we aren´t very good at coming up with great questions, and there was no prize at the end, BUT they said they woud all come next week too so I am going to take that as a success.
