6/27/18 - Hello All!!!

Hello All!

highlights from this week:

I got stuck in slime during companionship study... We had to blow dry my hands for 10 minutes to get it off... I´m learning a lot here on the mission.

We had a Family home Evening with Paola, Esperanza, and our new investigators Sandra and Caro. We played hot potato and the punnishment for losing was kareoke.. I lost... so I had to sing (more like shout) Don´t Stop Believin.. it was not my finest moment, and I am pretty sure everyone that was there was a little scared. If you don´t believe me, let me tell you... they had to stop me early hahahahaha good thing there weren´t any tomatoes there..

MIracle from this family home evening was that Paola and Esperanza actually cancelled coming earlier that day so we were struggling finding someone when we walked down the street and saw Caro and Sandra which was a miracle because Sandra is almost always wokring and they agreed to come with one hour notice!!! So then we were safe, but then in a lesson we got a call from Paola and turns out they can come! So it was awesome! 

Melissa turned 5 this week! She is the cutest little thing haha She is the daughter of the relief society president so we dropped of a cute little gift for her to wish her happy birthday. Then Hermana Santos her mom gave us so much food! It was beautiful.

We finally took a picture of our english class!!! It´s quite entertaining.

Another miracle!! We have an investigator named Ivan and the elders are teaching his dad and they found out that his mom has also read the book of mormon so they told us to visit her. They didn´t us her name or anything just that she lives on the calle Pablo Goyeneche so we think why not try. The FIRST door we knocked on was her. 

Finally here is a video of Margarita who is in our ward here. She is so awesome and the most funny and positive person ever. She is super successful in paraolympics track and field representing chile. She is an inspiration to us all so enjoy :)

6/20/18 - Happy Father's Day!!!

Happy Fathers Day fathers, gradnfathers, or future fathers!! 

This week was great! We were able to find a bunch of new people to teach and they are all awesome. Then we had a stake activity where every ward was assigned a country and had to rehearse and perform a typical dance and prepare food and stuff about thatq country. Mexico and Colombia were awesome so I attatched a couple videos of the performances... sorry for the bad quality haha

We had an awesome investigator named Vanessa come and she is originally from Colombia so she loved it! We were then able to go and teach her this week along with her family, and it was quite fun hahaha We couldn´t teach anything specific because they just keep asking question after question after question. We talked about the Restoration, the Plan of Salvation, Baptism and a lot of other commandments. It was really fun. 

This week we also almost killed our investigator... We invited Paola to a Noche de Hogar with our ward mission leader so we walk there together, but little did we know.. Paola can´t really climb stairs, and Eugenio lives on the 5th floor. Turns out Paola has a heart problem where her two heart valves are merged into one so physical exertion is dangerous for her.. I offered to give her a piggy back ride but she didn´t accept and just fought through it all the way up. She is so awesome, and such a good sport about all of it. 

In other news, in case you didn´t know, Spanish is different in different countries. Every country has their own sayings and phrases. So we teaching our new friends from Colombia who are backpacking through south america and they asked us about the mission. They asked us if we "echar los perros" which means like throw out the dogs or reject them, so i said " no! me encanta los perros!" everyone started laughing because it turns out that phrase in other countries means to flirt with men or something like that so i basically replied " no i love the men!".... Spanish is a struggle.

Here is the scripture that is the topic of study this change in my mission. The challenge is to honestly think about these questions. If we have experienced this mighty change of heart and if no, what can we do to feel it. And if yes, can we feel it now, and if not why not?

Alma 5:14, 26

14 And now behold, I ask of you, my brethren of the church, have ye spiritually been born of God? Have ye received his image in your countenances? Have ye experienced this mighty change in your hearts?

26 And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now?

6/13/18 - Happy Winter!

Not much super exciting happened this week! It rained a lot for the first time which was awesome; it made me feel like home :) Hermana Guerrero is great and an awesome missionary. We work so hard it is awesome. As for our investigators, everyone is good! They are all happy and healthy and progressing very nicely :) 

I wish i had more to share, but unfortunately i don´t haha Today we all went to the temple as a zone and afterwards went to Carls Jr which tasted so good!!! 

2 Nefi 7:7

For the Lord God will help me, therefore shall I not be confounded. Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

This is one of my favorite scriptures right now because I still have a lots of embarassing moments where I feel shame due to the language or the teaching, but I know that God will help me so that I won´t be confounded in those moments and that I won´t be ashamed because I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. He has helped me so much and continues to help me every day.

6/6/18 - Hello All!

Happy national day in Sweden... That was the only holiday i could find that is today...

This week was full of food for Hermana Spinelli and changes! Once we found out Spinelli would be leaving, we started saying bye to members and investigators when we had a free chance and every place we went gave us food. I literally had to stand up in the middle of a dinner once to stretch out my stomach... everyone looked at me kind of weird for a second but then they understood hahaha

We also had an awesome week with our investigators! Paola and Esperanza came to church! They told us they loved it and they want to keep coming AND they acepted their baptismal date for the 30th!  We also visited Tatiana (see picture below) and she is great! We lost contact with her because someone stole her phone, but now we are back on track for her baptismal date also on the 30th!

So ya thats news and members and investigators.. now my new companion! My new companion is Hermana Guerrero and she is from Ecuador. She is cool! She is also the youngest child, but of five not four and she doesn´t like to play soccer but she likes to watch it.. She likes chocolate cake and walks really fast...that is basically all i know so far because we have only been together for one day but we have a whole 6 weeks to get to know each other better :)

Winter has started to i am wearing tights, boots, coats, hats, and gloves every day and someone said that it might snow this weekend, but i think that might be a rumor... we´ll see!

LAMAN AND LEMUEL
And it came to pass that after I had received strength I spake unto my brethren, desiring to know of them the cause of their disputations.
7 And they said: Behold, we cannot understand the words which our father hath spoken concerning the natural branches of the olive tree, and also concerning the Gentiles.
8 And I said unto them: Have ye inquired of the Lord?
9 And they said unto me: We have not; for the Lord maketh no such thing known unto us.

These are two examples of how we can react to knowledge or new revelations. On one hand there is Nephi, he has no idea what the condescension of God is but he relies on what he DOES know which is that God loves us. On the other hand, Laman and Lemuel are disputing and what not and the reason is because they don´t understand nor do they TRY to understand. They say that God never told them so it is his fault. This new information that they don´t know caused them to doubt their testimonies and in the end, never understand. 

I don´t know everything, but I know that God loves me and all of his children and with that knowledge I have what I need to continue on.

Hello all! This week had been full of ups and downs but we are still here!! For starters Hermana Spinelli has been sick so that was fun Sunday when we get to church and immediately she goes to the bathroom and pukes and we had 5 investigators in the other room waiting for us! We have been struggling with that a little these past few days, but we are recovering! On top of that, I found out I had lice! That was fun...I went full out kill mode and just did everything I could to exterminate them, and I am happy to say that after much prayer and tea tree oil, I am lice free!! It was a stressful but short moment.

I felt bad because the day that i was decontaminating my bedding, we had divisions and my poor Hermana Leader had to sleep with a little blanket and a crappy pillow... Divisions were way fun for me though! I got to return to Poeta for the first time since I left. We visited a few investigators that I knew and they didn´t really remember me which is fair due to the fact that I barely talked back them and was only there for one change. But i did get the chance to stop by the Requilme family and that was super fun to see and talk to them.

Other than that, this week I yelled "Alo!" in our investigators face because I didn´t see him opening the gate... i scared him.. oops. I accidentally put hot sauce instead of ketchup on my french fries and we learned a dance that we were going to participate in for a stake activity but it involved of hip action so we decided to bow out hahaha but ya that is pretty much how our week has been going!

Mosiah 4:3  And it came to pass that after they had spoken these words the Spirit of the Lord came upon them, and they were filled with joy, having received a remission of their sins, and having peace of conscience, because of the exceeding faith which they had in Jesus Christ who should come, according to the words which king Benjamin had spoken unto them.

More than anything, I have learned that the gospel of Jesus Christ provides peace of concsience. The oportunity that i have here on my mission to promise peace and change to those troubled by guilt and shame has changed me. The repentance process is real and powerful, and I have seen it change people. If we are burdened by feelings of lonliness and guilt, there is a way to make it go away and his name is Jesus Christ. He loves us so much!!!!

Treasures - 5/23/18

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!! 

I decided to put that in my mass email so that everyone can know that it was my moms birthday this week!

I don`t have a whole lot to report on this week so I will just give a little update of people and things!

Our most potential investigator right now is Yola who is from haiti and she has a baptismal date for June 9th!!! We went over to her house where we met a few other Haitianos that live there so we started teaching them and Yola was helping us! She was like our third companion, testifying and explaining things so they can understand and replying to their questions before we could! It was so cool. Last week we left her with the Restoration DVD to watch and she watched twice and then invited her friend over so they could watch it together. SHE WACTHED IT 3 TIMES! She is awesome.

We had a leave one of our investigators because he flat out told us he only every came to church to see Hermana Santos because he was head over heels in love with her... Freaking Javier. That was a fun conversation let me tell you.

Hermana Spinelli and I found out in our interviews with President that we are going to have changes and that is most likely that Spinelli will be leaving so I will get a new companion! Speaking of changes, I cut my hair! Well... We went to our investigator Micaela`s house where she told us she could help us with our hair so she gave me a "trim" and she tried to do layers but only in the front so my hair was literally two completely different lengths. If you looked at me frm the front it was short and then if i turned around it was long.. we got some good laughs from that and lets just say i left my hair in a pony tail for three days straight. Yesterday Hermana Brown who lives with us finally just cut it all short hahah I will send a picture next week :) 

I was reading in Matthew and 3 Nephi this week and comparing the teachings of Christ from the Bible with the teaching of Christ in the Book of Mormon, and I loved reading the two! 

3 Nephi 13:19-22 & Matthew 5:19-22

19. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and thieves break through and steal;
20. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
21. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22. The light of the body is the eye; if, therefore, thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
The Book of Mormon seriously is ANOTHER testament of Jesus Christ. It is a treasure in my life and for that reason my heart is filled with so much joy when I read it and share it with others. READ IT!!!
